Suzanne has worked as a speech pathologist with adolescents and adults with acquired brain injuries (ABI) for over 25 years. Her approach to therapy centres on forming an authentic connection and maximising the capacity of each of her clients to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Working in Australia and throughout the United Kingdom, Suzanne has worked across a wide range of rehabilitation settings including inpatient and community settings, cognitively based outpatient programs, a specialist ABI challenging behaviour unit and in vocational rehabilitation, supporting people with ABI to return to employment.
Suzanne has extensive experience in supporting clients and their families at all stages of the journey following ABI. Supporting clients to identify and strive towards achieving goals that are meaningful to them within the context of their own life is central to her approach. Suzanne supports clients to enhance their cognitive and communication abilities in real-life settings such as home, school, community settings and the workplace.
In addition to working with people living with ABI, in recent years Suzanne has provided speech pathology support to some wonderful young adults with intellectual disability. Her functional, person-centred approach to goal setting and therapy, delivered in real life settings, has been highly impactful in creating meaningful change for these individuals.
Suzanne believes that therapy should be a collaborative process, with everyday people in the client’s life playing a critical role as supporters and facilitators of change. Together with her compassionate approach, Suzanne uses her vast experience to support clients in a holistic manner.
